Webinar Addresses Hospitals' Unique Workplace Violence Concerns

NJHA Corporate Services hosted a Webinar Friday with NJHA Strategic Partner McNamara and Associates titled Don't Let Your Hospital Become a Battleground. NJHA has partnered with McNamara, a specialist in the assessment and prevention of violence in the workplace.

The program focused on gang violence and the threat it can pose to hospitals, especially in the Emergency Department. Sgt. Christopher Hill provided a basic overview of gang culture, symbols and gestures so that organizations can become alert to potential gang- related activity. July 3 marks the date when hospitals are required to have a comprehensive violence prevention plan in place, in accordance with the N.J. Violence Prevention in Healthcare Facilities Act.
